About University
West Bengal State University was established in 2008. Itis a public university situated in Berunanpukuria which is 7 km off from Barasat city, Kolkata, North 24 Paraganas, West Bengal, India. The Govt. of WB through a Legislative Assembly Act has passed West Bengal Act XXVIII,2007 implementing as a public demand in creating a university named West Bengal State University at Barasat, North 24 Paraganas.
All the 55 colleges in the district of North 24 Parganas, which were formerly affiliated with the University of Calcutta, are affiliated to this university. The University’s mission is ‘to create a flow of quality human resources capable of meeting scientific, technological and social challenges of today and tomorrow’. The University began functioning under its 1st Vice-Chancellor Ashoke Ranjan Thakur.
