About MAKAUT
The Govt. of West Bengal set up an expert committee on 31st Dec 1998. The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology came into operation formally with the assumption of the office of the First Vice-Chancellor on Jan 15, 2001. The University started its academic program, from Jul 16, 2001, following a Notification from the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal dated 15 Jun 2001, through the affiliation of Engg. & Management Institutions / Colleges.
MAKAUT wants to grow to develop innovative ideas that would touch all segments of society especially the marginalized ones. The University has created 3 Schools of Studies viz. School of Engg. & Tech. (SET), School of Biotech. & Biological Sciences (SBTBS) & School of Mngmt. and Sci. (SOMS) comprising presently of 5 departments viz. Dept. of Comp Sci. & Engg., Dept. of Industrial Engg. & Management, Dept. of Biotech, Dept. of Bioinformatics & Department of Management and Science.
