About Bankura University
Bankura University was established by the West Bengal Act XIX of 2013 and the assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of 6th Jan 2014. The university will sustain the unique dissemination of knowledge systems in language, cultural studies, literature, social sciences & multiple branches of the study of science. Now, it comprises of four campuses at Purandarpur, Puabagan, Mithila, and Chhandar in Bankura district.
Bankura is historically known as Mallabhum. It can truly boast of a rich heritage of traditional cultural excellence.
